Is the star of the summer, the cool savior of taste and of course one of the best treats for human (and perhaps animal) language ... ice cream!
Most of us will have tasted ice cream, while fewer will know more about it, except that there is a lot of different flavors, the more delicious than the other. Have you wondered, what when, how and why invented the ice cream?
The truth is that there are many stories about who discovered it, but nobody can give us a definite answer. This is because there are no written documents to prove that one of these stories are true! Already in ancient China it seems that there was a form of ice cream, because the Chinese emperors had large warehouses filled with ice.
It is said that Marco Polo (great explorer of the 13th century) when he returned from a journey bringing with him the recipe for making ice cream with water (such as the current sorbet) which was discovered in China. Greek poet in ancient Greece once described something as snow with ingredients, fruit, honey or rosewater. There are even testimonials that say that Alexander the Great especially liked the "edible snow"!
Apparently, in ancient Greece, it seems that he knows some form of ice cream. The Roman emperor Nero sent slaves to the mountains were running too fast to bring snow and ice to freeze fruit drinks which he liked very much. While it is called the French De Mirco who was chef of King Charles the First served in a large ceremony an innovative dessert, a "frozen custard".
Guests enjoyed it so much this "frozen custard" that Charles promised the chef a lot of money to keep the secret recipe and use it only on their own ceremonies. To find nowadays this delicious frozen custard, rather the chef will not keep his promise or ... someone else is responsible for the recipe! Of course, there are many other stories about how ice cream was created and by whom.
Most likely to be found simultaneously in different parts of the world by various artists various forms of ice cream, which over the years evolved to the form of ice cream we eat today. However demonstrated the first ice cream on a stick prepared in 1903 by Harry Bust and then available from many producers in kiosks and shops around the world.
